Six Flags

We went to San Antonio this past weekend. Kyle's choir had some sort of competition and then the kids were going to Six Flags Fiesta TX. I was going to let Kyle go on his own, but he said he wanted us there. He doesn't do roller coasters and wanted us to do other rides with.

We get to San Antonio Saturday morning (a three-hour drive) to pick up our son at the competition. He then asks if he can hang out with his friends. no No NO. We just spent $150 for tickets and parking. (We hadn't even started the food, gas, etc.) And we don't even want to be here. We had other things to do and Emily was missing a Girl Scout sleepover at NASA because of this.

It was one expensive waste of time. We ended up going back to the hotel by around 6 p.m. because we were all hot and tired.

Don't get me wrong, we ended up having some good family time. But good family time usually starts with someone crying in the baldwin family.

We were just talking in church about how it is funny that the most memorable things we do as families usually don't take a lot of planning and $. Don't get me wrong, last years trip to Disneyland was great and the kids are already asking when we are going back, but the mini vacations that end up costing too much are just not as good as an impromptu fun night at home. Dang those kids...they cost too much and don't appreciate all the work we do. Now I sound like an old woman so I better stop! Next I will be telling the story about the hike uphill bot ways to school in the 10 foot high piled snow...
