My 12-year-old son!

Kyle's latest passion: skateboarding. He bought the board and gear w/birthday money

Kyle turned 12 on Sept. 11, and I wanted to post something about him. But due to the aftermath of Ike (ie Greg working from home, kids not having school all week, etc.), I haven't had the chance.
Kyle is a "thinker". When he was 2, Kyle was playing w/ a little fischer price playground. He flipped it over and while messing with the merry-go-round on the other side, said "How does this contraption work?" Oh yeah, he always had good vocabulary too!

He loves sports. If you strike up a conversation about football or baseball, he could talk to you all night.

Kyle is a good friend. He doesn't care who you are or what you look like. He has friends w/ all different interests from all different places.

He's a good money manager. He carefully saves for and thinks about each purchase he makes. We have a policy where we match dollar for dollar any money that goes into his savings account... with the catch that he can't take it out for a looong time. A few years ago he sold his train table for $50 and put the entire thing in the bank. He was $100 richer in one fell swoop.

For necessary reasons, my son knows things other kids would never want to know. He can read food labels to count carbs, give himself insulin, check his blood sugar, etc. And he's done these things for years. He's had to "grow up" quickly in some ways, but he's still very much a little boy in others. Thank goodness.

He's a kid a parent can be proud of. I know he represents us well. Even though he still is a kid with regular 12-year-old issues, he is very repectful of others. The teachers love him, and so do we.

You forgot to mention Kyle's negotiating skills. Remember how he could talk us into taking him to McDonalds when he stayed??? He has grown up quite a bit, but he is still good old Kyle!

Rendi,if his negotating skills were that great at age 2, we're in real trouble. I think you and Alan were just pushovers!!
